There’s a skunk in my shop!

Yeah something was up with it, it was not acting like any other skunk I’ve come across. (Used to help my buddy and his grandpa do animal removal and trapping, I have all his pro traps now) Was moving around weird, kinda back and forth aimless. Most of the time when confronted They just trot...

There’s a skunk in my shop!

I’d had opened the shop door to get my chain saw when I got home to cut down some buckthorn trees. Then I went to the back yard to get the welding gloves I’d left there. When I went to walk back through the small breezeway between the house and shop I almost stepped on it! Expletives...

    Power feed circuit board blew

@Tom Kitta i don’t know the age, the millwright I got the mill from never had it running after the rebuild. I’ve only used it lightly 6 months or so. @phaxtris I don’t really know what that stuff is. I can see a burned component and if I know what it is solder in a new one that’s about it. My...

Sure can, thought I did You can see the missing trace between the blue things (caps) there was a little copper ribbon hanging off. I replaced it with a tiny insulated wire on the back of the board to the pin of that first plug The cluster of four resistors had one burned I replaced it with a...

    Power feed circuit board blew

I was setting up cut in aluminum abs engaged the power feed not realizing how fast it was set to. I stopped it as quick as I could, but it shut off as I was throwing the switch. The built in circuit breaker didn’t trip, nor did the branch circuit breaker. I opened it up to find a small...

How bad of an idea is it to cut structure out of my lathe base?

Well it took some doing! But it’s back together! Oil lines need some sorting but it’s ok for the moment. I had to make some chips! Turned a piece of tube just to make it real lol Now just need to fix up the belt tensioning. And the threading feed handle that won’t move.

How bad of an idea is it to cut structure out of my lathe base?

Different sizes ok, large around the shaft ok. But blind holes in the face plate? Odd. To me anyways, but what do I know? So close to back together! It’s a real pain to get the main gears AND the feed gears on there journals at the exact same time is hard. I’m wondering if factory the did the...

How bad of an idea is it to cut structure out of my lathe base?

Well one benefit of the weather is you can leave the spindle in the driveway while the main bearing is on the wood stove wrapped in ceramic wool. Dropped right on beauty! Races pressed in, Main went in with a soft blow and temperature differential Rear took a bit more. Ground down the...

How bad of an idea is it to cut structure out of my lathe base?

It definitely is only one way. I’ll have to watch to not do much in reverse(which really isn’t on my radar yet) I think I’ll probably put an electric pump at some point hooked to the drain to increase flow. I ran the pump at high speed with the drill and it was very aerosolized, bolstered the...
