  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Machine Tools Warehouse MD-003

You might want to refine your search to look for a totally enclosed oil bath gear head. They are much quieter. I'm not sure you could hear the sound of nice chips, but you would certainly hear the chatter and squeal of the normal chips most of us make! If you ever get down Chatham way, drop by...

OK, I ordered the PU skates yesterday too. They had a father's day sale plus I had points. Good deal overall I thought. They arrived today. Box was ripped open top to bottom. But the skates were unskathed..... (sp intentional). Wow! These things are BEASTS. The Vevor photos were very...

How to Clean a Granite Surface Plate?

You are right to catch this @Mcgyver. I was using the term lapping incorrectly. I have adjusted my terminology. Unfortunately, at my age, that might be a temporary correction. Especially since I've used the term lapping both incorrectly and correctly for at least 60 years. To me, lapping always...

    The Faller Came Early

Most ash trees in eastern Canada are doomed to die. The invasive Emerald Ash Borer is killing them by girdling them internally. The ministry is deliberately cutting them down to stop the spread. It is devastating to see entire woodlots deliberately flattened. The ash borer looks like a small...

That is more or less what I pictured. What I had trouble with is the "clamp the support to the blade" part. How does a clamp fit inside a deep parting groove? I think you saying though, is that it gets clamped between the parting tool and the cross-slide by tightening the tool post. I don't...
