  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area.     Bugger!! The links show in a different color on my iPhone but not on my iPad. Of course different versions of iOS so I can’t easily compare settings. They do show up in Firefox on the iPad, but not in safari.

    Oxy fuel brazing brass

    With brazing or soldering the base metal has to be as hot as the rod or solder you are using but doesn’t melt. So you can braze material that has a higher melting point than your brass rod. Since you’re doing brass on brass I would call it welding.

    Have you checked out the makerspaces in Vancouver. Google shows that there a quite a few. The focus and equipment will vary but there should be at least one that has a good size lathe.
