  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Looking for a machinist to make Bronze Hardware for my Banjo build project.

Interesting project. Where are you located? There is an art foundry in Cochrane Ab that does bronze castings. Perhaps they or another art foundry could assist you.

    Tool Lathe files

My son told me that Staples was selling empty 3D filament spools to store Xmas lights for $20. I decided to see if that was true and searched their catalog. I didn’t find the spools but I happened upon Nicholson lathe files...

    Modular collet rack

It looks like you could slice about 1/4” out of it near the bottom to reduce print times.

    Modular collet rack

Fresh off the printer, ER32. As printed they would actually lock together, likely wouldn’t come apart without destroying them though.

    Cherry Hill

There is a photo from slightly different angle on the website. The rear wheel is single wide cylinder that appears to run on a cylindrical track. The spokes are fixed and don’t turn. Even the engine is enclosed within the rear wheel!

    Timer

@trlvn I’m not using HomeKit. I do use Google home but my plugs are not compatible with it so I am using a dedicated app to control and set schedules. The schedule continues to work even with my iPad powered down. I assumed schedules were stored internally, I’m not so sure anymore as they do...

    Timer

Nope. I have an app that allows schedules to be set. But with the app closed everything continues to work. I’m now wondering where the schedule is stored, what happens with loss of power etc .

I use a smart plug for my Xmas lights. You need wifi to set the schedule, but after that I don’t know.. I don’t pay for a subscription and they still work with my iPad turned off so maybe the schedule is stored internally.

Anybody with a 40W+ laser in Calgary?

Calgary Protospace has a couple of CO2 lasers. I believe their open house is every Tuesday evening. Prior to Covid, Mount Royal U used to have a small maker space in their library. They had a CO2 laser that they would operate for you. It was free to the public.
