  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Hello, new member from Toronto

Welcome from Ancaster!! Watch out for that guy from St. Catherines..... Gerrit. He’s all trouble, lol.... I hung out with him for merely 3 hours and next thing I knew I had an Optical Comparator on a truck coming to me from Regina! This bunch is a pretty great group! Cheers. Derek Sent...

    Pyrex Recommendations?

When the guy comes to the door you tell him to hold onto the package and that you ate going to self broker. Usually they have the commercial invoice right on the box. If he/she/they are “good people” then they will give you that invoice. If not get as much info as you can. I usually snap a few...

    CBN wheels

What you are saying used to be correct, with 1 caveat, speed. I have a Toycen Journeyman sharpening system with a variable speed motor. The diamond wheels are remarkably well suited to the slower speed drinding of HSS. In fact, check out some of the Toycen videos on YT. Gerit’s D bit grinder...

Pickup, package and drop item off for shipment in Montreal.

I used Manitoulin Transport to move an Optical Comparator from Regina to St.Catherines. Cost was under $110 all in. They will pick up at any business and deliver. Give them a call and I am guessing you’ll have the new mill before you know it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    New Toy - Rahn Repeat - O - Meter

I genuinely want to learn this part of the trade. I think I would like to eventually be able to make a few bucks re re-certifying and resurfacing plates, but from a hobby standpoint. If I can get good enough, and get some experience then maybe 5 - 10 years down the line I might be able to make a...

    New Toy - Rahn Repeat - O - Meter

Shooting for A on my large granite and if possible I am going to shoot for AA on the small granite. We’ll see. I looked up what this thing new costs.... for the Repeat-O-Meter, the storage case and the Supremess indicator is $4000 CAD. I paid nowhere near..... it was genuinely garage sale...

    New Toy - Rahn Repeat - O - Meter

I did some more preliminary measuring of the surface plates. The Repeat-O-Meter (fortunately) came with the instructions. I will post them as they talk about calibration and ironically speak to using a surface gage, gage blocks and a test indicator instead of needing the instrument. My 24 x 36...

Any hand scrapers in Edmonton ?

Hey there. I’m a Pilot. I fly the 737 for the time being but if Covid goes on too much longer I’m thinking I may be riding “shotgun on a garbage truck”. I know that Richards costs are high, but I am hoping to navigate that. As for “hearing things about him” I have not been privy to anything...
