  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Wanted: Mill Power Feed

The Aluminum checkerplate was my addition. When I rebuilt the machine I tool it down to bare metal. Fun fact, that metal was covered by a lot of body fill which made the castings smooth. Another fun fact, I’m not a body man, and I hate doing body work so I decided to clad the machine with...

    Wanted: Mill Power Feed

And I agree with Tom.... could you “dirty it up” a bit? My shop is generally clean but one could eat off your mill table! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Wanted: Mill Power Feed

You might consider putting a riser block between the mill and the stand. Make it from aluminum plate. Having the power feed is well worth the investment. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Wanted: Mill Power Feed

Here are a few pics showing how I overcame the 4 bolt to 2 bolt problem. I used a spacer/adapter plate that I machined. I turned a bushing to ensure it was centred on the lead-screw of the X axis. It was a relatively simple mod and has made the mill SO much fun to use. Sent from my iPhone...

    Wanted: Mill Power Feed

I have a very similar mill, mine was a “Go Well” from 1970. I used an Align power feed. You can find them on Amazon or EBay cheap if you bide your time. I got mine from Busy Bee. Could send some pics if you’d like. I will look around though as I think I know a lady who has a power feed that...

    Newb from Ontario

You are amongst friends. We are all in this to varying degrees. I’m in well over my head. I started out about 5 years ago “tooling up”. I’m in aviation and as such generally have some excess time to devote to learning machining; moreso now. I have an Atlas 10F lathe but a buddy of mine has a...

    Newb from Ontario

Welcome to the group. I’m in Ancaster and Lake of Bays (Summer). Are you just starting in this abyss or have you been at it a while? Are you a South Bend or Atlas guy or something more larger? Come on Mark..... give us a bit of the background. Cheers Derek Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New Acquisition Used Taig

I use Evaporust (not affiliated) on everything. It works great and you can expect the rust to be gone. I had a bad experience with vinegar. When I first started out I spent $60 on 4 Starrett dividers that were a bit rusty. I put them in straight vinegar for an hour and there was really no change...

Hey there. If you find one in Southern Ontario (I’m in Hamilton) I’ll do what I can to help you. I am back and forth to Calgary with some consistency so shipping may be easier than you think. Good luck...... we’re all in this together! Cheers, Derek Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
