    Best 10" lathe?

When looking at new 10" bench top lathes you really only have Craftex and King, unless you are willing to ship in a Grizzly, PM or some other Chinese made machine. Sure you can still buy a new Emco, Schaublin or Weiler but it does not sound like that is what you are after. Between the two brands...

    Tool South Bend 9A screws?

I have to disagree, the conversion is not that difficult or expensive (depending on what is expensive to you). If I understand correctly, the leadscrew and gearbox are imperial but the compound and cross slide are metric. First I would measure the thread on the two screws to make sure they are...

    Up coming auction.

In one of his previous videos Josh Topper said the owner had undergone chemotherapy for some sort of cancer. Before that the shop was useful and under control, after the chemo is when the "hoarding" began. He eluded to some altering of his brain chemistry, who knows, maybe he saw the end coming...

    CA-ALL Wanted-Source for 2024-T3 Bar stock

Aircraft Spruce has a store in Brantford near the airport, if you are close. I have purchased 6061 round bar from them many times. The pricing on popular sizes is good and you can buy by the foot.

    Small repair....

If you need it right away, the flats could easily be put on that 9" rod with a hand file or belt sander.

    Scammers

A few weeks ago I posted a WTB ad for an Emco Super 11. Today I received a message from a relatively new member named robert_robert with a lead on a lathe. A name and e-mail address was provided. A little back ground, I have been looking for one of these lathes for quite some time and have...

a little excitement in my day

My guess is, the kids may have exaggerated/lied when telling dad about your confrontation. The "look of fear" comes from the knowledge that they may be outed and dads anger being turned on them.

    WTB Emco maximat super 11

I have been in contact with that seller. Price plus shipping is doable, however, I have concerns about the condition of the lathe. The photos he sent showed some discolouration on the ways, not sure if it is just the photo or something to be concerned about. I am not comfortable spending that...

    WTB Emco maximat super 11

I have been in the market for an Emco maximat super 11 (imperial) for some time. I know this is a long shot, but, if anyone has or knows of one for sale please PM me. I live in southern Ontario and am willing to drive a reasonable distance. Lathe should be in good working and cosmetic condition...

Bought a SouthBend 9” - Hints on things to look for at setup?

I took mine apart, including removing the headstock to move it into the basement shop. Did not have any issues with assembling it. If it has all the original hardware, you will want to get some hollow ground screwdriver bits and some u shaped driver bits. Regular taper screwdrivers will chew up...
