    3/4” drive sockets

I used to be a mechanic in a truck and equipment dealership. I did a lot of engine rebuilding and repairing. Diesel engines use a lot of ferry head bolts that are real socket killers. A 5/8" ferry head bolt has a 5/8" twelve point head. Needless to say I have broken a lot of sockets over the...

    3/4” drive sockets

I have always wondered the same. I have never had a 3/4" or 1" socket fail even with a powerful 1" impact. A scary thought! One thing for sure having to turn down an inexpensive Jet or Westward socket to remove a recessed drive line yoke nut doesn't hurt as much as turning down a Snap-On socket.

    Welding a driveshaft yoke.

If you tack weld it in three places and then put it back in the lathe and check the run-out. If its changed you can adjust it by peening the tack welds. Once your happy that it is close enough weld it. If it vibrates it might need to come back out and be balanced. I had a 87 mustang that had a...

    9 inch South bend lathe

I suspect you need to replace the belt. I had a 10K SouthBend that came without a belt. I bought a belt that was made of plastic but had a rubber like coating on both sides and once one side wore out you could twist inside out and use the other side. It also had a pin you took out to thread it...

    Who Ordered This? Vancouver

Almost no one in Vancouver runs snow tires or knows how to drive in the snow. This snow is going to cost the provincial insurance company millions.

Shop Recommendations for warming up cold garage in winter

Pellet stoves are safe as long as they and the chimney are in good condition. The chimney is insulated and galvanized outside and stainless inside. The stove holds a 40lb bag of pellets and that will heat the shop with me working out there in the evenings for three or four days when its -10 out...

Shop Recommendations for warming up cold garage in winter

I live in a very damp high humidity area. I have a pellet stove in my shop. The stove operates off a wall thermostat. I keep it set to 5 degrees most of the time turning it up to 15 degrees when I am out there. If the outside temperature drops below -20 I will leave a 1500 watt electric cube...
