    Shop heat

I have a pellet stove in my shop. Its overkill for 625 sq ft. I keep the thermostat set to 5 degrees when I'm not out there, it takes about 20 minutes to get up to a comfortable temperature. It was -19 here last week and high humidity.

    Tool Morse taper drill bits

I have a small selection of MT drill bits. I do use them on occasion. My lathes tail-stock does not have the slot to hold the tang. I believe most smaller lathes do not have the slot. I have a selection of drill bits up to 1" with a 1/2" shank that I use most of the time.

    QCTP Adjusting Nuts

I bought an AXA piston type QCTP years ago and it serves me well. I have collected a few tool holders for it. One of the things I did not like about it was the small knurled adjusting nuts. So I made some larger ones to replace them. I recently acquired a few more tool holders so more nuts were...

    Carbide Threading Inserts

I have recently purchased some inexpensive insert tooling for my lathe and now am wondering why I waited so long. I know when you buy a 10 pack of inserts for less than $20 they aren't going to be high quality carbide. I bought a 12mm internal threading bar that take 11IR A60 inserts that will...

    Carbide Inserts?

I found these in a cabinet in a shop that had a lathe and a milling machine although the milling machine was gone when I hired on. This was over 40 years ago and they could be a lot older. They are .375" square and .130" thick and I think they are tungsten carbide. Some are marked K21 on both...

    Making 5C Collet Block Nuts

I made the wrench for the collet nuts. An old bolt and some mystery metal. Does the job.

Tool Tools you acquired that are useless

Here are a couple tools that are in my tool box that are not of much use now. The top one is for the rocker nuts on a Cummins 855 engine that is pretty much obsolete. The bottom one is for the same engine for accessing the bolts that held the fuel pump, compressor and accessory drive. I...
