Crawford Lathe's 4 spd drive box woes...

I pulled it apart yesterday. All the measures a parts guy (me) could need recorded. Upon inspection, my assumption is it's simply a matter of the unit's age. Shaft is clean, no pits or large grooves...one minor groove to speak of...but it more or less buffed out with a little emery cloth. The...

Crawford Lathe's 4 spd drive box woes...

So I was turning a piece of stock for yet another project, and noticed that the Dominion Auto-Drive that the lathe is equipped with, has started to weep oil. My first assumption is its coming from one of the shaft seals. Has anyone ever worked on one of these gear boxes? Or made attempts to...

iPhone to Android - phone recommendations?

The sad part is, if Apple cared enough to educate their customers on data maintenance, the users wouldn't end up with multiple copies of their files in the cloud, or having their storage max out after a month... iPhone to Android - phone recommendations?

While I appreciate the candor in your suggestion of a new battery...it's where said "present" will end up should I...

iPhone to Android - phone recommendations?

As someone who mistakenly got on the iphone path...I can attest to the frustrations of phones... I gave up on Apple's stuff when I got my current 'droid...it's a Samsung S20 FE...it does what I need it to do... When I got it, I purposely set the charge rate to 85% of maximum. I think this thing...

    Where to start...

hello there Miles... I'll add another "aye" to skipping the mini-lathe...it'll just frustrate the sh!t out of you... Bandit's got a solid point. Without knowing the extent of your interests...not so much your skills...it's challenging to point you in a beneficial direction... I can attest to...
