    DavidR8's shop shenanigans

I meant when they put the scale inside the cross slide. Mine is mounted something like yours but with the Magna Slim scale I used it barely comes above the cross slide and still leaves clearance above the gibbs screws along the back of the cross slide.

Yes , but mainly when it is all the way forward. Did your lathe come with the metal cover over the cross slide screw cavity ? Mine is exposed when the cross slide is back like that.

    Busy Bee CX709 chuck help

My CX701 is slightly different in that it uses studs in all the chucks and face plate. All you have to do then is put the washers and nuts on the back of the flange.

    Busy Bee CX709 chuck help

If I was doing it I would make a separate backing plate for the 4 jaw chuck. The flat head slotted screws are not the best thing to use to attach the chuck. You want it good and tight and as solid as possible. All the backing plates I have seen are attached with socket head screws. I definitely...

CX601 review and many additions including installing a DRO and lowering the head crank.

Here is a couple of pictures. The chain tightener wheel is a piece of UHMW and I put a couple of small ball bearings in to make it run smoothly. It really makes life easier to be able to crank from much lower down.
