For shorting the lathe rough design of thoughts lol. Basically bolt 2 plate to both pieces of lathe after squaring off the ends and scraping back of plate to front of lathe so get good bearing then Installing bunch of small fasteners to join the two and red loctite those in. Then once both sides...

Creative way to use lathe to fix surface grinder

Ye that would be the hardest part is getting the 3 references aligned. And if memory serves me correctly most lathes beds aren't ground on the sides. So that would make things interesting. Still seems easier to build separate frame out of channel and build if off lathe bed to minimize external...

Creative way to use lathe to fix surface grinder

Interesting I will have to check that out as I did think building somthing external but you would still have to use adequate precision measuring equipment on top of the of large material cost. for a small lathe probly worth while but for 16' lathe probly not cost effective. Probly break even...

Curious what you use for flux and does it help with making it softer or just to help lift impurities?

Looking for Useful uses for lead

Not sure if steel is good idea as you need bit of softer material going down your barrel or it would just gull up rifling maybe copper coated steel bullets would work but cost is probly a factor to why it isn't done. And probly weight of bullet is probly factor as well.

Looking for Useful uses for lead

Ye lots of lead has been banned in alot consumer goods but bullets still are lead for most part but I believe you can buy lead free bullets but are not as easy to find. And they still sell large lead fishing weights I think. But I think most small weights are zinc or tin now a days. I also heard...

    Another Brown and Sharpe

Didn't think they would of put a bypass on forklift that old but I guess they knew people would exceed the limits. Garage door track rail is pretty easy to find call around to garage door installers as they usually keep coupe sticks on hand. I think some home depots in the bigger cities have it...
