  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. Tool Chucking Reamers

So how exactly does one measure the size of the reamer - size it will cut? Basic idea is just to at least use calipers and measure the distance between blades, but that seems to be rather... not so accurate. Even for fixed size reamers, where the size of the reamer has worn off I am finding it...

    Mill top of anvil flat?

Why you don't think you will own another PW - I think I actually own one - the rounded edges are not such a big deal as long as they are not chipped. Or shall we say not super rounded - just rounded a bit. I pre-heated with tiger torch my anvil to maybe 200C before I started to build up the top...

    4 x 6 Bandsaw Table

I just went with large horizontal saw - universal - I think mine is like 18". Through it cuts wood more often then metal (!) Its good at cutting plate / odd things that don't fit into vertical saw. Use it often. The only machine I have that is native 600v.

    Mill top of anvil flat?

If its real anvil the hardness is above 50 - so its hard and regular carbide will burn. Don't take too much - like maybe 2 - 3mm off max. How flat do you exactly want this to be? If lots of material is missing either add a new plate to the top or weld back missing material. I actually...

    Single Phase Motor Vibration?

How about this - there is a Baldor motor on auction in Calgary closing tomorrow. Its 1.5hp. There is also a 1hp motor. I think I have a 1hp or 1.5hp at home.

    Single Phase Motor Vibration?

I have one of these growler things to check motors. Never actually used it - but I have it. With 1hp, these things are cheap enough to just scrap this one if something is off and get a new one - unless its something crazy like special C face etc. You should get 1hp to 1.5hp used motor for...

    9x49 Knee Mill

Something does not add up - I have similar machine - same color - NMTB40, but all NMTB40 machines that I know off had 5hp motor and a larger table. Also 3500 lbs. Could this be NMTB30? Just remove the business end and see what is there and measure it.

    Single Phase Motor Vibration?

So here is practical test - put the motor on your desk, connect power. Let it get to full RPM over a second or two. Now disconnect power. Does it vibrate? If yes, it suggests a bearing or simialr mechanical issue is the problem. If not, then its electromagnetic issue - such as uneven air gap.
