    Tecnico's Latest Kijiji Finds

Neither my MT2 Myford or my MT3 Standard Modern have the slots so they have to release via the screw. Not everything I have has a tang either. Maybe it’s a more modern practise or maybe a far east thing? D

Oh……that’s different, you mean sedimentary filing. There’s a definite order to the piling. :p D

    Tecnico's Latest Kijiji Finds

Both lathe tail stocks are Morse but the inserts are released by backing the quill into the tailstock. I’ve only seen the release slots in drill press quills. Just checked, I do have an R8/MT3 adapter that I’ve never used. I don’t have any MT3 drill bits though. I’ll file the wedges away...

I’ll second the above. All the advice I can give is derived from advice I have seen from the experienced plus hard earned experience (learning what not to do by doing it, LOL!). The reference books are good too. To expand, I think the largest fundamental is rigidity. Your tool must not...

What’s it Worth - Surface Plate

Hmmm….. I’m seeing an Amazon ad for under $430 LINK and some ads for MIT and others at about $1k so I suspect the ask would be more than the smaller BB. Thoughts? Would $2 - 250 seem more realistic? D

What’s it Worth - Surface Plate

I recently picked up some things from a Kijiji ad (more about that later in Kijiji hauls) and the seller had a surface plate but had no idea what it was or what it’s worth. I decided that I didn’t have a burning need for one anyhow so I passed. I told her (the spouse of the late owner) what it...
