  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area.     Correct. Digital gauges are also subject to static interference which can cause ‘jumps’ in readings (use grounding leads to minimize). A vernier or mechanical dial indicator is a go to metrology tool.

    Timberland, Kodiak, . . . Anything that will keep my Size 15, EEE . . .safe. Up until 10 years ago I would buy a couple new pairs when I was in Chicago for the NPE. Now teenagers are getting so big that stores have ‘inventory’ of large sizes.

    I have used AutoCAD, ProEngineer and Solidworks, but, it is just cool to layout a piece of equipment on the ‘board’ and ‘shade’ it to create depth and perspective. I still like to start sketches on my board.

    Wow !! . . . Is that a ‘T’ Square ? That drafting board is antique compared to mine which was bought out of Kellogg’s Engineering office in London, Ontario . . . in the 1990.

    We had a VOLSTRO attachment at Ex-Cell-O Special Tools. They seem to be very rare these days. (CNC has made them an expensive option) Alternate process: Mount your workpiece on a Rotary Table and position it with the Center of Rotation located properly from the OD edge of your mill cutter.
