    Another This Old Tony recap...

IMHO, the much simpler version where the ball bearing has been press fit and does not rotate is more effective. If you are making the tool to make a tool then sure, but allowing the ball to rotate makes it harder to get enough pressure on the work to make the burnished finish. Maybe this...

If it comes to a twist in the bed, the tool will not move parallel to the axis of rotation of the work. Probably the twist is not uniform along the length of the bed, and so the taper that it cuts won't be either. But the significance of that taper is bounded by the trigonometry created by the...

Running Linux and which version in order to run WINE or some other WIN-7..WIN-10 option.

Updates, especially security updates, cost money. These days Microsoft basically gives the desktop OS away (yes there is a license agreement etc.), and makes money mostly from corporations. Trust me I know because I pay for it in my day job. Linux distributions that have similar models, also...

Running Linux and which version in order to run WINE or some other WIN-7..WIN-10 option.

Running Linux and which version in order to run WINE or some other WIN-7..WIN-10 option.

I don't think it is right to say that there is one proper way. There are advantages and disadvantages to every approach. But virtual machines are free, except for your time, and offer a lot of flexibility. In fact all cloud providers use and offer only virtual machines commercially, and...

Running Linux and which version in order to run WINE or some other WIN-7..WIN-10 option.

Yes! That's exactly what a virtual machine is. Just like if you had a totally separate computer, but it lives inside the other one.

Running Linux and which version in order to run WINE or some other WIN-7..WIN-10 option.

It depends on which flavor of Linux, but in short you choose a hypervisor and install it. It will have some sort of control program - with a GUI or command line or both. You decide which part of your hardware you want to dedicate to your virtual machine, and then connect virtual devices like...

Running Linux and which version in order to run WINE or some other WIN-7..WIN-10 option.

WINE is a sub-system for linux that allows programs compiled for Windows to run on Linux. Running a virtual machine will run a whole copy of Windows (or any other OS) as a task on Linux. You would then run your program from that OS.
