Rehab 2nd Gen Delta Tookmaker surface grinder.

I bought a Delta Toolmaker surface grinder at the mill closing down auction for $200 USD, about $300 CDN what with the fees, exchange and taxes. That was eleven years ago. By the serial #, it was a 1968. A surface grinder was used in the nail die shop. When they closed the nail department down...

    Real estate listings suck

My parents had moved out from renting Vancouver city to outlying Burnaby, the city next door. They then moved farther out, turning the profits from house into the next one. They did that again . I hoped to do that as well. But we ran out of land in the Fraser Valley. No need to commuter as we...

    Shoulder check

Studies have proven distracted driving is much worse than drunk driving. What really bugs me is the drivers on their cell phone and miss the light change. Traffic is bad enough without drivers parking in the middle of the road.

What size lathe do you have?

My son and i went together on a lathe, a bare XIMA version of the common SEIG 10x22. I had completed it with parts from Lathemaster in Louisiana . When my son moved out, he took it with him. Sons do that. That was when I ended up getting the DF 12x24g. I had cause to use his to make a part when...

    Whisk(e)y, wine and cheese!

One of the gang had the keys to the supply room. That was a much better. You had to double cut it though. I'm not a whisky connoisseur, the rare time I drink hard stuff, it's rye and seven. Gibson's Finest works , or the wife and I on hot summers day, G&T, then it's only Beefeaters gin.

    Gear Lash

I've installed my Teflon tape on the ways of my Delta Toolmaker surface grinder and repaired the pinion shaft. This raised the gear rack so I'm shimming it. These are not the most rigid surface grinder nor is a rack and pinion the smoothest feed. Both will negatively effect the surface finish...
