    Quick change tool posts

As per comments above, the 4 way tool post is a very good arrangement for holding lathe tools and is not uncommon in commercial shops. That is what I used for over 30 years. I have gone to a CXA Phase II (15” swing lathe) and I have about 15 assorted tool holders - it is nice to have lots of...

Making a surface grinder wheel arbor

Sopko makes wheel arbors with provision for balancing. When I priced them, the were much more $ than the conventional wheel arbors. After talking to Bill (Sopko) and DaveH, the balance hubs really were not necessary in the conventional surface grinder application. How to adjust the balance of...

How to make a 5/16" bore with this boring bar?

Like John says, grind to get what you need. With that style BB you can expect to grind it. KBC was kind enough to give you a little extra material, and didn’t charge you for it.

Making a surface grinder wheel arbor

I built a balance arbor - per above comments, and it seems to work well. The wheel adapter arbors are another matter. The main brand in N America seems to be Sopko. It is a bit tricky to purchase directly from them, but they directed me to a couple distributors. I ended up getting two wheel...

Inquiring about rotary phase converters and VFDs.

Tom, obviously there are a few options as far as running 3 phase motors from a single phase supply - they each have benefits and detriments. Perhaps you could provide more details as to what machines you have (hope to have soon), and what you want to do with your shop?

Inquiring about rotary phase converters and VFDs.

Another phase conversion arrangement is called "Phase Perfect". They are pretty quite and the voltage regulation is absolutely spot of (still has the current being out of phase from the voltage - but that is a reality when just generating a 3rd leg). The PP units are expensive, but work very...

    OZ25 collets

Accusize offers OZ25 in complete sets (various shanks). Sowa offers a "Type 25" collet - which may be the same? Even Amazon has them.

    OZ25 collets

My NMTB40 collet chuck is fitted for OZ25 collets, it is branded "STM". It seems to work well, never had an endmill pull out. I've never run a dial on it, I just use it. It came to me on a trade, so there was no cash cost. I'm quite happy with it as I don't otherwise have a collet chuck for...

Edmonton - Can you plane down some oak for me ( 1 cut )

Humm, sounds like an opportunity lost. You had a perfectly good justification to purchase a tool/machine. You'd have used it at least once, and it opens up many other times you'd use it. Around here, the threshold to justify $$ on tools is very low.

Where to buy a Reilang r003 precision oiler with double pumps

I got mine about 5 years ago from Jens. Excellent product. Yes, expensive - but I believe it was money well spent (no regrets).
