    PA Forges?

Haha, wishful thinking! I’ll fire it soon, I can feel it coming on again. A bunch of family stuff just got in the way for a few years but my time is slowly coming back again.

    PA Forges?

I have one of the original MightyForges I bought some years ago (2012 or 13, I think). Nice units, and a really nice guy too. Unfortunately I have yet to fire the thing and it still sits in my back bedroom waiting to be tried out

    Radial engine build

That’s some really nice work there — very clean, very crisp. I know exactly what you mean with hand filing the rod fillets though. Been there done that, and it always sounds like such a pleasing thing to do until about halfway through the second one.... Nice work. -frank

    RF30 head alignment guide

Agreed. I was imagining the 4 tie rods as you have but minus the collar. The lower two rods tie onto the sides of the table, the upper two rods tie onto the sides of the head. They’re still linked at the rear to give the freedom in Z. Or am I missing something else about how yours works?

    RF30 head alignment guide

Hmmm, for a drill press I’m wondering if it wouldn’t actually be simpler. On a drill press (mine anyway and like the one David used to own) the rack slews with the table so there’d be no need for a collar. Heim linkages from either side of the table to either side of the head should do it. Or am...

    Snowblower recommendation, anyone?

I know. I don’t have much time left (working I mean) but it’s hard when you see young single moms get the axe after nearly ten years of service.

    Snowblower recommendation, anyone?

Hmm, thanks for that Pete. I can’t recall if I experienced that scenario last year or not — I did run the machine myself for several hours but after that my guys used it. And, well, my snow season is pretty short compared to you guys so some of those patterns may be more difficult for me to...

    Tapping stand

I’ve tapped as small as #2-56 on mine and up to 3/8” probably although 5/16” is my personal preference for an all-round nice size. And yes like Peter says, with the small sizes you do need to careful — another reason I like to finish them with a handheld handle. -frank

    Tapping stand

Yeah, most of it is way overkill. The weak link is the chuck — just a keyless from a scrapped cordless drill — and without some kind of square to engage the square on a tap it’ll slip. Realistically though the handiest part of the process for me is not tapping the entire hole but rather getting...
