  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. Tool Ever had this happen?

I think getting old makes finding stuff you never knew you had more common. One thing that makes me remember where things are is to never move them. I have a few tools stashed in weird places in the barn that makes no sense. They are there because that is where I put them in 2008 before the barn...

Looking for someone to turn brass in Guelph, KW or Cambridge

If you are not fussy about the grade of brass and live on the coast they sometimes have old brass propeller shafts for sale at a little more than scrap price. Where I live you can look around the 3 scrap yards all you want and everything is for sale.

Our Motorcycles - Post What You Got

A while ago when I lived in Calgary I decided to go on a motorcycle trip. So I bought a BMW F650GS and headed out to the Yukon. Then back down the Cassiar highway. No real plans or schedule. Although it was summer the daytime highs were usually below 10C and it rained almost every day. It was...

    Frackin Time Change

Some parts of BC also ignore the time change so it's not even consistent in one province. I get up between 5 and 6 every morning whether I have something to do or not. If I have an active project I sometimes get up between 4 and 5 so I can get started. I probably should have been a dairy farmer...

    Tool 2-4-6 Blocks

I don't think a block of polycarbonate could be milled to within .0001". Certainly it would not be very accurate with temperature variations and easily damaged. They would be useless for anything except a paper weight. I bought my 2-4-6 blocks from either KBC or Travers tool. They are often on...

Today's Project - making washers from Pennies

If it's real it's worth something to someone who collects error coins. It's also possible it's some sort of shop made thing or some type of magician's coin.

Today's Project - making washers from Pennies

If you want larger and pure nickel. The Canadian 1 dollar coins from the 1970"s (or at least the early 1970s) are pure nickel and only worth face value.

    Playing around with Fusion 360

I do have a full set of plans. I purchased them from the son of the original designer. So they are legitimate. I find some of them to be clear and some not so much. I think some of the references are for a specific piece of equipment that would be used in a manual shop. I'm going to be doing all...

    Playing around with Fusion 360

I started modeling the oil pump. It's a bit of a weird shape so it was confusing to draw. For some of the parts you have to reference other parts and drawings to figure out how to drill the holes. It gets confusing. The drawings and written instructions are not always clear. It's possible they...
