  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. Light duty "precision" impact screw driver?

I know Wera has a smaller one, here. Their full size one states 90 nm of force, the smaller lists 25. Not cheap, at around $130, maybe someone’s knocked it off? Edit: $130 for the kit, I see KMS has it for $73 for just the tool.

If it’s the foot pedal that’s the issue, you should be able to bypass it. Looks like setting Output to ‘On’ will give you Lift Arc/scratch start Tig.

Shop Now THIS is a Full Shop!

Cool Tools in your home shop that you'd not likely not see in someone else's?

You reminded me of something I have. Material, not a tool, but probably not kicking around most shops. Platinum wire, ~0.005 diameter. Inherited from my Dad, apparently they used it in printers or photocopiers at some point (He spent 40+ years as a Xerox technician).

    CA-ON Jewelers rolling mill

Where are you located, 1018? I feel like it was Ontario somewhere, but... If it's not a crazy trip, you're welcome to just use my mill (Durston, 4.5" wide flat rolls). I'm in Etobicoke, west end of Toronto.

    Bridgeport 49" Table Slide Length?

I’m pretty confident weight is a factor. There’s more resistance cranking if the vise is on the end cantilevered out. I’m actually not sure the nut on our older mill has ever been tightened.

    Bridgeport 49" Table Slide Length?

I'm not a real machinist, just play one on TV, but... before we installed a DRO on our mill at work, we used those bolts as stops, for repeat parts. There's a fixed stop/pin at the centre of the machine they run into. With the DRO installed, they're kind of vestigial. The physical travel limit...

Cool Tools in your home shop that you'd not likely not see in someone else's?

I also used one of them the other day to push a crack closed on a casting I was repairing. Clamped one side of the casting down to the table, put a clamp lightly on the other side to constrain it, and clamped the hold down to the table. Made it really easy to apply force on an awkward part...
