  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area.     The side cuts leaving 0.415” are a close approximation- like one side is 0.4146 and the other is 0.415 - this is because I made the fit as close as possible so the block has no wiggle to prevent any taper changes with a sloppier fit. Maybe not necessary but was fun.

    @Darren - the only things in the block that are not just basically a C on top of the rail is a relief in the middle for oil distribution. I tried to keep the slot at a close tolerance- maybe 1 thou so the taper is accurate. I can take a few pics for you tomorrow.

    Fast update: Working on all the electrical and heating. So far I have 120Vac outlets, one 240Vac for the band saw, the heat has an outlet and the control system is wired, circ pump etc. I have the LED lights installed. This works great! I will provide a link to the lights. Easy...
