Looking for non-US made angle grinder

I have a couple of 5” Metobo grinders. Both made in Germany and about $200 but I’ve had them for many years and don’t know if still made in Germany or what is todays price. They are very solid and well built. The one on the left is variable speed and 10 amp. The other one is a little heavy and...

    Hello and welding question

Yes this thread has grown with lots of good comments about welding from several experienced welders (trained & certified not just self-taught hacks like me). IMO moving to tips & tricks section is a good idea. (make it so @Susquatch) Yes there is an industry standard for the welding hood...

    Hello and welding question

I don't use O/A goggles, just my welding hood. I believe that a great welding helmet is your best step towards good welding (or brazing). A great welding hood will not make you a great welder. I am a poor welder with a great welding hood. My eyes are rather important to me. OK - EXTREMELY...

I gave up on (well actually my body gave up on) enduro riding at age 69. Loved it and also ice racing. Lots of big smiles while riding my Sherco. I bought plenty of accessories from Lang's Offroad (Rob Lang is an awesome guy to deal with). They were mostly from USA's Enduro Engineering. I will...

    Drilling 1-11/16” hole 14” deep

I’d go with the cut / extend / weld. Have a look at how I welded threaded rod to a motor shaft and corrected runout to an acceptable amount. I just posted this thread: PS: OOOOPS - sorry guys - I didn't want to copy the whole thread and have it appear here. I was only intending to insert a...

Adding (welding) threaded rod to a splined motor shaft

Here’s an old motor that is now a buffer/polisher. Threaded rod was welded to the splined shaft to secure a buffer disc or wire wheel. In pic below, the threaded rod extension is clamped on and aligned by using a piece of angle: The indicator is set up on a bushing to check runout. A weight...

    Free to a good home.

I really like the idea of bringing them to the Ontario meetup. Hang on to them. That could be a part of the meetup program. Guys bring something they no longer need or are willing to donate for a sort-of grab table. Attendees could buy the items (at a reasonable price) and the revenue is used...

    Hello and welding question

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride. I am not a welder. I am a self-taught hobby welder with zero training. Five years ago I upgraded my twenty year old 220 volt MIG to a 4-in-1. I struggled (and wasted a lot of gas) but I managed to teach myself TIG aluminum. I thought if I got the spoolgun...

    Standard power hacksaw

Oooops. I sold my 12 saw to another Forum member but had forgotten that I also had some 14 & 17” blades that could be cut down to 12”. I will ask if he wants them and if he doesn’t, then I will then send you a PM. Tks
