  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year.     My thought was to use a bolt larger than 20mm and turn to size then make a hss threading tool to cut the threads. Then cut the flutes in the mill. The threads are likely metric buttress not acme so grinding a custom tool would be necessary Edit-sorry not buttress but some metric acme like thread

    Do you agree, To cut a nylon gear it wouldn't need to be tool steel, an old grade 8 bolt would work. It wouldn't need a lead-in taper to cut a gear and it would only need 1 flute?

    It's strange the Busy Bee manual doesn't even mention the threading dial, it says you must keep the half nuts engaged throughout the threading process. The Precision Matthews manual does have threading dial instructions for imperial threads and specifies an 8tpi lead screw and a 32 tooth...

    I bought mine in 2013. Definitely worthwhile to get the pdf version to have a z axis motor and pdf for boring. There was no electronic variable speed available then but I never felt like I needed higher spindle speed. It weighs 1100 lbs with the cast iron base so it's a pretty stout machine...

    I didnt know BB offered 3 years when I bought my last mill from PM I compared it to offerings from Modern Tools and KBC. Both of them offered 1 year.

    My first mill was a PM932PDF Same as the M but with power down feed. It was a very good machine No problems in the 3 years I had. PM offers 3 yr warranty ( 5 on Taiwanese machines) as well. Everyone else is 1 year.
