What makes ER collets good quality?

Mine came in an aluminum case like the Accusize set and may be from the same source. I made a wood rack with a neoprene cover that is attached a mobile tool box so it be moved near the mill or lathe as I use them on both.

What makes ER collets good quality?

That's the same ER40 collet set I bought and I'm happy with them. I haven't checked them all for runout but the ones I have checked have had less than .0005". Very nicely machined.

    My lathe up and quit

If you're going to polish the commutator bars on the armature be sure to use a non metallic abrasive. The metal particles from some abrasive paper can embed in the mica separating the segments and cause arcing

    My lathe up and quit

Nice! Usually when I buy a spare part for something" just in case" the something is long gone but the spare hangs around collecting dust for years after.

    Steel gear cutting

I don't know what the correct cutting speed would be bit I assume it would be normal sfm calculation for HSS. Glad your gear turned out well, I'm about to make a couple as soon as my cutter arrives from China

    Tecnico's Shop Window

My spindle has a 53mm X 1.5mm thread on the od. I made up a spider/sleeve with a matching ID thread. It can also hold a shop built hub and flange with a degree wheel for chuck indexing.

    Gear for threading dial

The gear on my threading dial is not a straight spur gear like I thought. It Is 32 teeth and the teeth have a slight angle to match the leadscrew

    Gear for threading dial

Acme is 29 degree and Metric trapezoidal thread is 30 degree but looks like acme but of course acme does not have metric sizes so I don't know what to call it.
