  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. Multitools

I had a custom leather sheath made by a very talented local (ish) supplier. Didn't think much of the factory sheath, though it lasted Okay well. I can wholeheartedly recommend Skookum Horse, out of Clinton BC, http://www.skookumhorse.com/ , as a source for really solid sheaths for the likes of...

    Multitools

Am pretty partial to my classic Leatherman, will replace it with another same, if and when this one falls into the void. I have a Wave too, but don't carry that as much, although I do like a few features it has, like the diamond grit on the back side of the file, and the folded over edges of the...

    Bring out your shapers

RTFI, FTFI! Read the Frikken Instructions! Follow the Frikken Instructions! Both, go a heckuva LONG way, towards not having to be embarrassed!

    Bring out your shapers

Glad to know it (your post) was a victim of a missed auto-correct, rather than an accurate reflection of reality. I am really impressed by your work! Have read too many reports of fellas dealing with grease filled machine tools, when the maker installed the same style of nipples but expected...

    Bring out your shapers

I gotta ask... "It's full of grease"? Or, It Was full of grease? Because that last line above, makes it sound like you put it together wrong, and run it dirty and poorly lubed... Which doesn't seem right, for the work and effort you seem to have put in to it, of which you should have some pride!

    Tool Nothing Lasts Forever

Hey, you joke, but I had a whole selection of Right and Left handed driver bits! Dealing with aircraft screws that had been mangled by too many worn or mis-applied tools, there was an outfit that offered what they called ACR, or Anti Cam Resistant, IIRC, driver bits. They had extra teeth built...

    Tool Nothing Lasts Forever

I picked one (0-1"/0-25.4mm Mech Combi-Mike) up in a Pawn Shop for $15, a LOT of years ago! Tenths reading on the Thimble in Inches, and hundredths reading on the digital readout in Metric. Still have it, too! Made a simple stand for it so I could hold a part with one hand, while still being...

    Stroke Shaper Wanted!

I was visiting a Machine Shop in South Edmonton, some years back, the place was spotless clean, and well lit, with CNC machines throughout, except for one solitary 24 or so inch stroke shaper, all alone in the middle of the room. When I sorta squinted at it and cocked an eyebrow, the owner just...

Our Motorcycles - Post What You Got

So, essentially, Triumph, as a modern "Brand" has about exactly as much of a lineage, as South Bend (now Grizzly) does as a machine tool. Just another outfit that bought the name, and cashed in on it. "bought the name and Manufacturing rights", is not the same as being the Company that built...

Our Motorcycles - Post What You Got

Friends don't let friends do this! Sorry, if you are a Can-Am converted snowmobile owner, but whether I am on a bike or in a car, like as not, the wave you get from me is gonna be decidedly skinny! Like, one finger. If yer in a wheelchair, and it's the ONLY way you can ride, maybe a pass....
