  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Lathe - Gearbox Oil

The manual for my King KC1236ML, which is the King equivalent, specifies AW32 oil in the apron but nothing specific about the headstock. However, the Grizzly G4003 manual (basically the same machine as both of ours) specifies ISO32 oil in the headstock and ISO68 in the apron. I have followed...

    I Love my Milling Machine!!

It's a small general shop in Stony Plain, we do all sorts of stuff from oil changes to engine swaps. Coming into it as an auto mechanic, I've had a lot to learn about things like air brakes and 18 speeds, lol!

    I Love my Milling Machine!!

That is cool, I'm impressed with that repair - and your ingenuity at table setup, lol! I've only ever brazed cast but if the high nickel wire you used will hold up under heat/cool cycles it might be a useful addition to our arsenal at the heavy truck shop where I work. I don't have a MIG . . ...

I Finally Built a Shop Crane and Hoist

Nice setup! That will work very well, no use wrecking your back - even for a hobby. Even to be able to just unload heavy parts from your pickup or trailer under cover is very useful. I've been wondering how one could have a crane in a suburbanite garage (like mine) so thanks for sharing!

    International D436 Injector Tools

My buddy Ryan has an old 1979 International 1440 combine with a D436 engine in it. He needed to pull the injectors and injector sleeves so I cut some tools for him out of a highway tractor rear suspension torque rod. It really was just straight lathe work but figured someone might find it...

    Bought a TIG

Nice! TIG welding is fun, but I find I'm so shaky that my tungsten takes a swim on a regular basis . . . That machine of yours has way more user control than the one I have, looks like a very nice unit!

So what are you making her for Mother’s Day?

Well, I started this a couple months ago as part of Rustinox's #coathanger2020 challenge but because it took until a few days ago due to life stuff it became her Mother's Day gift, lol. It's a coat rack with a lamp made mostly from used heavy truck parts and some scrap I had. She was part of the...

    Princess Auto - Free Delivery

While I wish I could have said that I've had good experience with BB, I very rarely buy from there anymore due to some disappointments during the purchase and subsequent needing help with my mill. In contrast the local KMS has been absolutely awesome to me. As for Princess Auto I love going...

    test indicator quill mount

Wow, yours looks nice! Much more polished and professional-looking than the one I made, but I just needed one quickly and made mine out of scrap and a cheap eBay one-knob arm. I like the clamp on yours, it would be nice and secure!

foundry is ready to go to work

That is awesome! Casting is an adventure I am hoping to embark on too, once some time becomes available. Please post progress, I like learning from others' work!
