What grit(s) are best for grinding profiles in carbide and HSS?

So that’s why the super fine grits, used Glendo accufinish machines rarely come up, but many people have made their own from DC motors and such. You can use the import diamond plate tools on them or buy Glendo wheels.

What grit(s) are best for grinding profiles in carbide and HSS?

You’re going to be fluting by hand?, you need a tool and cutter grinder, air spindle and cup wheels, and a motorized rotary head. Chances are you can find a Cincinnati #2 for the price of scrap, cause there is barely anyone left who knows how to use one.

What grit(s) are best for grinding profiles in carbide and HSS?

Depends on your needs, what specifically are you grinding, sharpening edges on brazed tools or regrinding inserts? 180 grit will do most of what you need, certainly nothing over 300 unless you are regrinding wood working carbide blades. If you are referring to bonded diamond you must be very...

Cutting raw carbide stock into usable blanks

Yes, even edm affects the immediate area, though some tooling companies used it to make formed blanks. Ground blanks had more consistent wear and better finishing and tool life. I doubt that this compound would hold a sharp edge in anything other than cast iron, it’s alloying is not intended...

Cutting raw carbide stock into usable blanks

If it was a wear plate of some sort it’s unlikely it will be useful as a cutting tool, too fine of a grain and little binder for strength.

Metal working - dry / lubricants / coatings / cooling mist

I see, an enclosed system and vented, makes sense for high velocity micro tools, sterile and doesn’t require cleaning of the parts. Quite effective if well managed,I noted they don’t recommend steel fixturing in case a cutting tool hits it and sparks.

    Welding a driveshaft yoke.

I certainly had a driveshaft loop on my GT6 when racing it. Since the Bronco body and fenders already had been cut and flares installed I’m going with a manageable sized 31.5” X 10.5” on 15” rims. I doubt the truck will be off-road anytime to soon, as soon as I’ve broken in and debugged...

    Welding a driveshaft yoke.

it came out fine, I did tack it, had a pro weld it, checked runout, no movement. After everything gets shaken down with the drivetrain running while on blocks, both front and rear drive shafts are going out for balancing. 1976 Bronco

Metal working - dry / lubricants / coatings / cooling mist

I have not been in a shop that was using it, I’ve seen and used varsol mixed with cutting oil, and have used it but I still think it’s sketchy. I draw the line at alcohol, I think it is a step too far in risk vs. benefit. In my older years I’m more prone to say , not my zoo, not my monkeys.
