Tips/Techniques Vertical up welds & Can a Toaster Oven be used as a 7018 Rod Oven?

If your transformer machine is AC only, 7018 will be a struggle. 7014 is an easy to use, all position rod that works well on AC.

Busy Bee Tools selling Accusize products

Or an angle plate, or a couple broaches, or…. Seems I always have a few items on a wishlist they sell so I can run the order up. I also sometimes combine it with stuff we need for work.

    Electric heater question

I had some leftover insulated osb panels for under floating floors, used to use some as floor ‘mats’ in the last house. Worked great, feet stayed warmer, gave a little cushion too. These were the 2’x2’ panels with a half inch or so of styrofoam on the bottom. They ended up outside for a while...

Shop New to me equipment coming.

Well, it eats through 1x4” mild steel. I was tired of trying to cut stuff that wouldn’t fit into my little 4x6 saw. This may be a little overkill, however, I have access to 8-10” diameter roundstock, and use lots of material in that size for fixtures for the field machining that I do. The...

Progress! In the shop, off the pallet and onto the floor. A little shuffling and it’ll be into place soon!

Shop New to me equipment coming.

Well, between the cherry picker, pry bars, and some help here and there with my little kubota, the physical moving isn’t bad. It’s the juggling of space to free up space to shuffle things. When one realizes the same item was moved 4-5 times it starts to get old. The ‘shop’ is 24x28 garage...

Cool Tools in your home shop that you'd not likely not see in someone else's?

I’ve used one of those electric etchers, they work quite well actually. Small parts tend to get warm in a hurry though.

How about a 2 5/8” twist drill? Haven’t used it yet but I know the day is coming. Will be great for opening up a hole in the lathe for larger bores.

Shop New to me equipment coming.

Let me know when you’re in the area, and we can meet up if I’m around. The shop re-arranging continues. The lathe got unburied, and moved where my welders and welding bench were. The welders and bench are now along the wall on the other side. My vertical bandsaw is next to that. Now to move...
