  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Bigger Lathe Question

You can put a 6 inch chuck in a 12"+ chuck no problem. I do it regularly and it works fine for light duty stuff

    3dp rubbery things

It is very difficult to print on a regular 3D printer because the extruder effectively needs to push a floppy string of spaghetti through a straw. It can be done by reducing extruder speed and travel by 80%. Dosen't sound fun does it? There is a whole community 3d printing shoes. They know more...

    Makerbot repair

This was the state of the extruder when I bought the thing. It seems like I got it back together ok but I am not sure. Makerbot repair

    Makerbot repair

I am creating a thread to share my journey repairing this Makerbot Replicator x2. I purchased it on Facebook marketplace. I received it particularly disassembled with a clogged extruder. My vision is to assemble it and hopefully use it as a replacement for my Wanaho I3 duplicator.

    Converting lathe to CNC

My little syil ax250 was right in that price range new but it is pretty light duty. Definitely a good machine for small hobby stuff.

    Converting lathe to CNC

Converting a South Bend to CNC makes sense. It is a good starting platform. Converting anything with significant bead wear sounds like a bad idea. Even on big industrial machines we don't compensate for bed wear in the controller. Instead I break the program down into different segments for each...

I have 2 lathes because one is CNC and the other is manual.
