    BaitMaster’s (Work) Bench

Yes, I understood that it was the lowest shaft and the right hand lever on the carriage. I just need enough details (like proper function), in order to recreate it. I've found someone semi-local, with the same lathe series. He has taken a few photos for me, which show two microswitches in the...

    BaitMaster’s (Work) Bench

Thanks for explaining the action of the lever @BaitMaster ! Does the "latch"ing happen because the switch is on the circular part of the switch cam? My 13x40 is about a 2000 and appears to have once had one. I'm guessing it was damaged in transport and removed. The stop button feels a long way...

    BaitMaster’s (Work) Bench

Spotless! I have an older version, but it is missing the traveling motor control. Does the lever on the saddle do exactly the same as the fwd and rev buttons, and return to center when you let go? Is forward up or down?

    Bracelet

Indeed. My epoxy was quite clear. I did reduce the cabosil on my second try, but the result was still almost opaque.

I’m trying my hand at bracelet making. Need to keep it turning slowly until the epoxy gells.

    Motor control on carriage

Last year I bought a "Gearhead" 13x40 lathe that is about 25 years old. It's very similar to an Enco 13 x 40 110-1351/510-2585 and Grizzly 4002. I really enjoy getting out to my shop and using it. On the headstock there are an inch/run switch, reverse, stop and forward buttons. The carriage...

Tool boring bars for HSS bits

I'm thinking about using Aluminum inserts, but will probably order a traditional boring bar set. It seems like they will be more versatile, cheaper and suitable for the slower turning speeds that my lathe is capable of.

Tool boring bars for HSS bits

I feel like I would get more bang for my buck, buying old school HSS bits. There's a lot more HSS to work with.
