    CA-ON Large copper tubes?

You could try AIM metal recycling. I once bought a 45 gallon drum of lead shielded wire. Last time I was there they had about ten beautiful shiny 4" dia X 36" copper bellows. I though what a waste to have it go to the shredder, it would of looked really cool on some kind of steampunk project...

    Identifying an odd thread.

I don't know if this applies , but I use to put a strip of paper ~ (.003") to set the distance between the gears of my Atlas lathe gear train. That seemed to work well for that application.

    Identifying an odd thread.

I am also a fan of HSS, especially for fine thread. 90' plunge ( thumbs up) After reading this technic on this forum, I will never go back to 29.5 unless its 4 TPI. It's hard enough to identify odd threads, even harder when they are mix standards. Good for you for not giving up and Kudos for...

    Tailstock DRO

Modifying an existing IP67 digital caliper might be a cheaper solution, the dedicated linear scale configuration are pricier. I mounted a cheap $20 digital vernier on my tailstock and so far so good (8yrs). It does get coolant on it but very little and a quick wipe seemed to have saved it from...

    Identifying an odd thread.

For the really tough to identify, I will get my magnifier out and some good lighting. I measure the O.D = metric or imperial or ? I will measure over the length 1" or more and count how many threads there is and average it to a single pitch. Then figure out if it is metric or imperial or ...
