  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Burke No.3 Horizontal Mill $100 Peachland BC

If it were on this side of the ferry I'd have to look, even though One More Project is the last thing I need... I love a horizontal mill. I used to have an Atlas MFC. It was a bit lightweight, but I liked it anyway.

    Electric Vise?

OK, I had to watch the video. The guy who demonstrated "wood working and carving" must have been recruited from marketing and was liable to shove the blade into his finger. I guess the vise wasn't quite enough to hold his work piece by itself. And no mention of detecting that your finger is in...

    Electric Vise?

For real? Not 20mm 1.25mm pitch? That's only like 0.0007875 off? (Of course I guess over the length of the screw that could get pretty bad. You didn't say whether it's a feed screw or just holding a sheet metal cover on... But 20tpi makes it simpler to use imperial dials, so there's that.)

Tool End mill brought back to life

I like it! Recognizing when there is "nothing to lose" sometimes opens doors, eh?

    On-line user status

I'm one of those people who has dozens of browser tabs open and stays logged in to whatever-the-site is all the time (Except Financial stuff!) Password manager takes care of having to remember (although I do have paper backup) but for most things who need the extra typing and clicks? And the...

Another member from "South of the Border"!

Another hello from Vancouver Island! Interestingly, in my "to do (someday)" pile, I have a trombone which needs some repair. Regular slide type, not valve, but I play valve instruments - Eb circular alto, AKA Mellophone being my go-to horn. I had a music store about 50 years ago and was a Yamaha...

Hendey metal planer, $2500, Guelph, ON

Cutest tool I would love to have but really have no use for! I think I once saw a Youtube video where someone had done just that. Late 1970's I was an apprentice in a shop that had tools that were already ...um, "very elderly"? There was a more serious planer, maybe 8 or 10 ft bed. May well...

Modern No.2 M.U. manual milling machine $2K Saanich

Looks like maybe. When I see something like this that does not have a well-known (to me) name, I always go to lathes.uk, but I'm not finding it there, Nor did I find that Pregraph grinder. Maybe my "google-foo" is deteriorating. I did find some mention of it in an Old Practical Machinist post...

Pregraph Tool and Cutter Grinder, Victoria, $457

Well, I've got a bunch of end mills that need sharpening for you to practice on! (Of course I'd want them back when you've made them brand new again :p !)
