  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. How welders fix things.

If they're all the way through the studs with fender washers on the far side they're probably fine.

Adding (welding) threaded rod to a splined motor shaft

Good way to check the run out on the threaded end. Years ago I was an apprentice in a marine shop (Lunenburg). Not me personally, but the shop straightened propeller shafts by placing them on V blocks, pressing with a large hydraulic press, measuring and allowing for some undershooting or...

CA-BC Amazon.ca vs direct from Accusize?

Inventory control. Paper trails. Gotta know what you got, what's coming, going, and elsewhere. If you are a small enough company with few staff you may get away without this. Company of any size? Much harder.

CA-BC Amazon.ca vs direct from Accusize?

Was gonna say. Seems to be a mutually beneficial relationship, like every good business deal is. Accusize reaches a larger audience and sells much more than they might if simply selling direct. Amazon may trim Accu's costs less than eBay would for all I know. I had completely forgotten the...

500 lb drill bits, end mills, reamers, broaches, etc

Looks like broaches in there too.

    Making louvers

Very nice! How much "Ooph" (technical term) does it take on that 18 gauge steel? I have been pondering what might be involved in making a die for punching cutouts in aluminum for things like IEC 320 panel mount plugs. I know nothing about this type of work, but I thought if I'm liable to do...

    Milling vise $50, lower mainland

    Hello and welding question

Another total amateur here. The first time I tried MIG after using stick, I though "This feels like cheating!" it seemed so easy. I now have a Miller 211 "Auto-set" which allows you to cheat even further (up to a point) by setting the wire feed and voltage based on the wire size and material...
