  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Tool ER Nut Mysteries

The ER-11 one like that that I have has the usual eccentric lip. Rego-Fix calls it a "mini nut". See https://ca.rego-fix.com/en/products/components/clamping-nuts/ER

CA-AB Hobby plastic drawer storage units

Years ago I bought 24 boxes on sale at Cabella's (similar to https://www.cabelas.ca/product/142536/bass-pro-shops-extreme-series-36003700-utility-box-set-of-4) that I use for storing small bearings, pneumatic fittings, taper pins and similar stuff. It is crude but I simply stacked them 4 high in...

Huge list of unfinished projects for the new year

My very tentative plan for a large format pano camera was to use the sensor from a scanner and move it across the image plane by rotating the camera. A sort of digital slit scan camera to create results like those from a Cirkut #5 camera.

Huge list of unfinished projects for the new year

Speaking of incomplete projects and view cameras, on my list (and almost certainly never to be completed) is making a digital panoramic camera. This raises the question: is there any interest in a Linhof Color 4x5 or a Linhof Kardan Color 45 S (both in good condition and with accessories)?

    Silly little question

The Amazon and CT oilers may be the same thing but their part numbers differ: 40469-A for the Amazon one and 26365 for the Canadian Tire one. Further to the Myford oiler: yes, mine appears to be well made but it still leaks!

    Silly little question

Any idea how this (https://www.amazon.ca/Oregon-40469-Chain-Premium-Grease/dp/B001SCM85E) differs from the Canadian Tire one?

    Kurt vise reversed jaws?

Making your own Talon Grips is interesting but seems a poor use of shop time. I've made hundreds of parts using only one set of grips (still in good shape) so four is apt to be a lifetime supply in the typical home shop. I skipped through his first video so probably missed a lot but how could...

    Kurt vise reversed jaws?

Making the holder is trivial: just an aluminum jaw with a top slot about 0.502 wide and 0.175 deep with four (or more) 10-32 tapped holes centred in the slot. I try to keep everything in normal so I use the 10-32 screws rather than metric ones.

    Kurt vise reversed jaws?

I doubt that there is any "standard" and sadly there is often no mention of the distance between mounting holes in adverts for jaws. As one data point, the 5-inch jaws from Monster Jaws (https://monsterjaws.com/5-vise-jaws/ ) fit the Tormach 5-inch vise that is made in Taiwan.
