  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. MDF as milling backer?

I scored a quantity of 7x24x5/8 MDF scraps from HomeDepot several years ago so a perfect size to fit my mill's table. As others have noted it works well as backing when drilling or finishing the edges of stock. I've also used it with double sided tape (https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B000QC48UU) to cut...

    Cast Bronze Plaques

Your point about the value of aluminum versus bronze is very well taken. The plaques are planned to be outside and in a park. There will be lights and probably surveillance cameras but that won't deter the scoundrels. I suggested such at an earlier meeting of our committee and the others...

    Cast Bronze Plaques

The project is in the early planning stages so all options are possible. The plaques will be attached to brickwork, outside, subject to possible abuse by vandals and expected to last for at least several decades. Price matters since we will eventually need 50 or more plaques. Any suggestions...

    Cast Bronze Plaques

Hopefully this is a good place for this question. I am involved in a project that will require a dozen or so cast bronze plaques approximately 12x18 inches and with about 100 words of raised text on each. What companies (ideally in the Toronto area but definitely in Canada) should I contact...

Living a by a landfill has its perks.

Actually it is far worse than you might think. According to the CRA, there are 334 "salvation army" registered charities in Canada and each has their own execs. Their head office (The Governing Council of the Salvation Army in Canada) alone has 7 execs making $250-299K, 2 making $300-350K and 1...

Tormach CNC 1100 Personal Mill - $12,000, Vancouver, BC

Perhaps. A Tormach 1100M (although this appears to be a 1100) starts at us$19,552 = cdn$28,000 + tooling + HST + shipping so approximately 1/3 new cost of a similar machine.
