Tips/Techniques Making the Square Drive hole in a custom socket.

I would just buy a 1/2" drive socket, mate it to the front end and TIG it. But then I'm not looking for something to justify a shaper purchase.

Today's project is a collet rack for the mill. I just haven't been happy with the one I made a few years ago from recycled PE. The criteria are: 1. Within easy reach of the operator 2. Doesn't interfere with the quill handle 3. Positioned above the blast zone. My FreeCAD skills are improving...

    Tool Magnetic Base

I'm just using one of these "sewing machine" lights on my SG (and 4x6 and chain grinder). It looks positively dainty compared to that beast. https://www.ebay.com/itm/403821595734 What does the light look like?

    Car Rust

Being from California, I have little to contribute here, but I do have one thing to add. When priming raw metal or a fresh weld, I use ZRC (zinc rich coating, cold galvanize). It's not just a sealant (it may not seal at all), but it provides some galvanic protection to retard corrosion. YMMV

    Identifying an odd thread.

When I need a tool like that, I grab an old tap and grind away all but one "tooth". Spares me having to grind the profile and it as built in top rake. The tap just has to be a coarser pitch than the thread you're cutting.
