    Tips/Techniques 3 Phase motor

When I went to a VFD many years ago, I went to my local motor supplier (who I bought a lot of motors from) looking for a 3 phase motor to replace the 1.5hp motor originally on the lathe. His advice was to get a 1 hp 1200 rpm motor (6 poles). I went with that and it has been great. Lots of low...

    DavidR8's shop shenanigans

I had them in my shop. Between the lathe and the mill. They filled the space so they couldn't move around. I did mostly aluminum. After 10 or more years the aluminum chips were imbedded in most of them from me walking on them. Chris

    40" x 30" 1/2" 6061 plate $300 - Victoria

Actually, I have ripped 1" x 2" Aluminum rectangular bar on a tablesaw with a high tooth count carbide blade. I also cut a lot of 1/2" aluminum plate with a router with a 3/8" up spiral carbide bit. The router needs multiple passes and lubricant (A9 Fluid) but with the appropriate guide it is...

    Other Vevor ultrasonic cleaners?

Actually, my heater (10 litre version) seemed to do quite well. I took the injector pump out every day to "exercise" it, and if the heater was set to 50C the pump was too hot to comfortably hang onto. Chris

    Other Vevor ultrasonic cleaners?

As I posted above, I have a 10 litre Vevor ultrasonic cleaner. I finally used it over the past few weeks. I have a Kubota D722 3 cylinder diesel that is destined to run a generator. It has been sitting for about 10 years. When I tried to start it, it wouldn't fire and the theory was that the...

    Mini excavator needs new tracks

I have an IHI 12JX excavator that I have had for 10-12 years. It had extra weights on it when I got it and I saw no reason to remove them. Just in case it gives you some ideas. Chris

    Acorn table

I don't think it is 5000 plus pounds. It looks like about 3" thick but I could be wrong. This is a steel plate I got a few years ago. It is 1 1/2" thick and 42" by 95". As I recall, I calculated 1700 pounds for it. It will be the top for a workbench. Anyway, if you double the thickness, make...

    Machine Air compressor muffler

I think this might be an interesting approach. https://www.theengineerspost.com/types-of-mufflers/ Look at this article. The second muffler design is a wave cancellation muffler. A compressor runs at essentially a fixed rpm so the air pulses will be consistent. It is intake air so you could...
