  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area.     A couple of buddies bought a sawmill a few years back. It was cutting all sorts of wonky. I went out and found the blade guides all worn and the one guide mounting arm was bent. I threw an indicator on the base and ran the head/blade over and found .100 of change from the front of the teeth...

    It was a fun project. Lucky for me there was no time crunch so that helped. Just getting the machining sequence figured out and the taper cut with the threads in one setup was the tricky part. Alot of steel to remove though. Getting it roughed down to size took a bit of time.

    Finally got back to working ont the backing plate. I machined up a tapered arbor and machined a slot for my 3/8 keyway broach. She was pretty tall so had to use my hydraulic press as it wouldn't fit in the arbor press. Alot of pumping to get it cut and alot of shims to get the depth needed...
