    Chinese mini metal lathe differences?

Hmmm, maybe. To be totally honest, I was expecting more problems. I did have to grind a few machine screws down to clear some interferences. And A whole lot of gib tuning. But no show-stoppers.

    Chinese mini metal lathe differences?

Vevor MX 8x14 Chinese mini lathe rookie update. Pics attached. - I took a day and stripped everything down. There was a lot of what I'd call, "factory grit&oil" on all the bearing surfaces, gears and everywhere. - All the gibs were loose. A couple of bolt/screws had come undone and were...

    Chinese mini metal lathe differences?

Ordered and MX 8x14 from Vevor on a Thursday. The delivery process was great. They delivered it by UPS on the stated date, midday, 5 days later. Keep in mind, I am a hobbyist with zero machining experience. But I watched a lot of Blondihacks and took notes. Here's my first day: - As expected...

    Chinese mini metal lathe differences?

I took the leap today and bought a MX8x14 (Chinese) mini lathe direct from Vevor. It should be delivered before mid April. Decision based on: - metal gear train - 650W motor - comes with nominal cutting tools set - it's a common one out there, for retrofits, fixes, etc. After spending way too...

Looking for foundry to cast brass in SW Ontario

I've done the calc's and yes, you're right. Each bezel is about 3/8" high(wide). So I figured about 12 to 16 bezel could be machined from a 12" piece. But I'm a complete novice (so <12 (hah!). But I've got a lot of scrap brass in my shop, that cost me nothing. Here's a picture to give an...

Looking for foundry to cast brass in SW Ontario

And by coincidence, A piece of ABS pipe happens to be the near-exact dimension. Use it as a pattern. A cheap forge from Vevor, casting sand and lots of learning (and propane).
