  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Walter Rotary Table 12 inch, $200, Ottawa, ON

Hell, yeah, that’s a good deal! West German made. Sure seems to be a lot of nice machines and tooling out of Ottawa recently. I would have guessed 12” from proportions, but just looked at my 12” Walter and it has a different pattern of t-slots. Fwiw.

    Granite surface plate, $100

A lot of good information there, Susquatch. Another little consideration is the professional stone re-lapper, recertification people don’t like to work on smaller stones. From what I’ve been told a 2’x3’ plate is about the smallest. Nor sure I understand why. And speaking of re-lapping...

making "spherical" surfaces with a boring head (?)

Interesting thread. Have been in the guts of two variators (three balls, not a six like yours) but just replaced bits. Didn’t dare remachine! This was years ago (ha! decades ago) when spare parts were easily available from a place in south Mississauga. As I understand their operation, they...

    Van Norman No. 12 mill

Might want to say if it has the more desirable 40 taper, motor voltage, and can he load. Not being critical, I just find details help get more interested eyeballs. I used a VN 16 years ago and liked it.
