    DavidR8's shop shenanigans

Can you put a price on happiness? But yes, it is a lot for a toy, but I will be hanging onto it for quite some time.

    DavidR8's shop shenanigans

I'm lucky to have one of each of those. I have a 2019 F850GSA and a new 23 R1250RT. Love them both for different reasons and uses. The new RT is really sweet, you don't even need to reset the suspension as it self adjusts to the load with the Dynamic ESA. Just choose your riding mode and go.

    Water fountains and water control.

I have a small humidifier float valve in my fish pond filter box that keeps the water level topped up. It's fed by a 1/4" poly line and works well keeping the pond level up. The issue I see with your fountain would be the splashing water not allowing the float to stay still enough to remain shut...

Tool Keeping old outdated tools in the shop

I am the old outdated tool in my garage. And while we're telling bull stories, One day the farmer brought home a new very large fine looking bull to help service his herd. Among the younger smaller bulls one particularly small fellow started stomping and pawing the ground and acting very tough...

Took the winter tires off today

I'll give it a couple more weeks until I swap tires on our car. The summers are pure summer rated tires and any amount of snow would be disastrous with them. My truck runs winters year round as I don't put enough miles on it to bother having two sets.

    Disposing/Recycling Power Tool Cases

I've managed to re-purpose a couple of those cases by cutting out the molded interior parts to leave just the outer shell. Not all of them are suited to this treatment depending on how the inner shape is molded in and joined to the outer part, but worth a try if you're going to toss it anyway.

    Shop Full Garage Tour!

My original garage was right to the limits of the building bylaws at 768 sq ft and 15' to the peak (actually 15' 2" but they didn't measure). Those were the rules in 99 when it was built. later I went through the difficult development permit process to add on and after being denied by city hall...

    DavidR8's shop shenanigans

Not sure if the rules have changed since 2013 when I added onto my garage, but at that time the ground footprint was what was measured. The footprint was the actual foundation coverage not including overhangs. The exception is the veranda on the front of our house which has foundation support...

What did you do for a career and would you pick it again?

In a way I do use my firefighter experience in the shop, but in a prevention mindset. I did some health and safety work as part of my career and try very hard to keep a safe work space at home. I do also have to bandage the odd gashed finger too.

What did you do for a career and would you pick it again?

I went straight into an apprenticeship for auto mechanics after getting out of high school. I was fortunate to be able to work with my Dad to get that quick start in a trade. I'd been tinkering on cars and motorcycles for years already, so it was a good fit for me. I finished my apprenticeship...
