    Little one day projects

I'm not sure what sort of 3D printing would work for this. I used a piece of 6061 aluminum. Should not ever be a problem again.

    Little one day projects

No, I just ground the end of a piece of 12mm alley key to have sharp edges and used my press to broach it. Took a couple runs to get it loose enough for a slip fit of the key. Not ideal, but also not a high use part, just once every 20,000 kms for valve checks. I hardly have ever needed to do...

    Little one day projects

Todays job was one of necessity. I was wrapping up a valve clearance check on my F850GSA and was reinstalling the crankshaft access plug when I discovered it was made of cheap plastic and could withstand almost no effort to tighten it in place. The flange broke off completely. A replacement...

Hydronic Heating Systems - (cement floor heating)

My system has just a single zone in that there is just a single thermostat controlling it. In the main part of the garage which was the original build, there are four loops in the floor. I added onto the garage several years ago and have three more loops in that area. The multiple loops serves...

Hydronic Heating Systems - (cement floor heating)

I have in floor heating in my garage/shop also. The only fans I use are for dust control or fume ventilation. I usually keep the temperature set to around 16 - 17C which is perfect for working. The nice thing is that unlike forced air heating, the temperature gradient is warmer from the floor...

    Impossible Location

You just need to place an open pan of really filthy used oil under whatever you are working on. Any dropped fasteners will automatically drop into the oil no matter how impossible or far away it seems to be.

    Armature Lathe $40 Bracebridge On.

Pictures are not very complete of the machine, but I assume it was for turning the commutator of the armatures. That was commonly done when rebuilding motors or generators to take out the wear from the brushes.

    Happy Thanksgiving Everyone !!

We had our family turkey dinner Saturday out in the "dining hall". More room to spread out even though there were only eight of us.
