Dan I used thin wall aluminum tubing filled with sand for cores. The tubing will end up being bored out. John

Peter I have a large stash of aluminum. Most of it is is from Toyota transmission cases. Factory castings are the correct alloy and don’t require any additives like silicon or copper. I used the prints like normal wood patterns so no burn out. The molds are rammed green sand. The thickest...

This picture is a closeup of the rocking lever casting. I used a 3D printed pattern with no attempt at post processing. It didn’t pull cleanly from the sand but otherwise was fine.

CA-ON Bentone 34 or other “organophilic” clay?

I’m not positive, but I think it was Bre Chem supply. They have several locations in western Canada. I got it in Blackfalds Ab. I split the bag with a couple of members from the AMEN group in Edmonton. I don’t know whether they had any luck with it.

CA-ON Bentone 34 or other “organophilic” clay?

I did get if from a drilling supplier. I believe it is the silica content that may be carcinogenic. Bentone 34 has the same warning. I do know that it forms a gel with oil. Just mixing it with sand didn’t work. I never did get a chance to try it in a muller.
