    Canadian pen supplies

Have you tried Cardon in Perth? When I go to and from Ottawa, I stop there almost every time! Racks of off cuts etc. Not too far from Brockville. I did not search for bronze but I used brass for a quick search...

Tips/Techniques Starrett 230 roller lock adjustment

My micrometer was getting stiff and it came down to the roller lock. So, I removed the lock using a small jeweler’s screw driver. It is made of 3 pieces. The tiny pin and the split ring is the lock. The ring was closed with no gap. I opened the gap a bit. The little pin was measured...

    Tips/Techniques 3DP Post Processing

I spotted a post on using Oakley Purple Primer for PVC as a glue for PETG. Anybody who has used this stuff knows that it is a thin liquid. I tested it on a couple test coupons of PETG and it works very well. It doesn’t leave a thick glue layer. It does soak into a joint very well. On the test...

    Looking into 3d printing

Creality K2 is a copy of the Bambu X1C that has been slightly updated. Apparently either one just works as is. Bed slingers are going away as Core XY printers have more advantages in a smaller footprint front to back and enclosure capable or built in. Multi-filament is an advantage even if one...

Tool Palmgren milling attachment knob modified

This is what I was cutting in the vise! Telescope part. Could have waited until Monday and used the shops Bridgeport and taken 10% of the time and much simpler set up but I can do this stuff at home if the parts are not too big. This piece is 3” on the edge the cut has been done. Pierre

Tool Palmgren milling attachment knob modified

Had this vise for years and it is been a pain in cranking the vice up and down. Removed the threaded shaft that is pinned to the knob, drilled and tapped the top for a bolt, pinned it and return to the vice. Now I can use a wrench or whatever without breaking my wrist. It is the simple things...

So I've jumped into the rabbit hole

I changed the design of the above brackets. Just too many issues with the support material and the thin section of the bracket. I sliced the top off and printed the bracket piece upside down and the round portion for the nut right side up. Glued together and then printed the nut knobs. Pierre

    Which Linux? Be Kind…

Look to doing a dual boot with Ubuntu added to Windows 7. I am running Ubuntu and Win7 on my workstation. Currently Ubuntu 22.04 even though the screen shot shows 16. System is a HP Z800 with 2 Xeon processors for 12 cpu, 96 Gig of ram and 7 Tera of storage. Even though the workstation is over...

So I've jumped into the rabbit hole

First look at the stored and travel set up of the telescope. Overall height of 13.5”. Sweet! The upper section fits nicely over the lower with lots of room for the secondary mirror to clear. Still have to make secondary support bits and measure for the CF tubes for the trusses. The trusses are...
