  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year.     I replaced the 1.5 hp cast iron motor with a 2 hp aluminum inverter rated motor and added the VFD. Makes the lathe much more adaptable to differing conditions. Best upgrade so far. I already had a QCTP from the old lathe. Pierre

    If the melt is that bright it would be near melting out the bottom of the crucible! Palladium and Gold has to be hot, near 3300F, with eye protection required. What is in the pot in the photo is only 2000 F or so and once Tin is added the temperature has to be brought down prior to the pour.
