    Ultra thin tool makers foil

Hi All, There is no backing on the foil that I can see. As well, someone in the past must have dropped the roll on something like a hard concrete floor as some of the roll outer circumference has been mushed over making it even harder to seperate. I will try some of your suggestions though.

    Ultra thin tool makers foil

Hi All, Ultra thin toolmakers foil only 0.0003" thick. It is so thin, I can't even get a piece off of the coil without it tearing and wrinkling. Any ideas?

Machining a Curved Tee Nut - An Interesting Setup

Hi All, Setting the radius of the curve was from the center of the rotary table to the center of the round tee slot in the vise base = 70 mm utilizing the previously made pointed round pieces. Since I don't have digital it was literally point to point as seen in photo 692. The outer and inner...

Machining a Curved Tee Nut - An Interesting Setup

Hi All, Time to do something I had ignored for decades. This involved machining a new curved tee nut to fit into the round tee slot in the swivel base of my most used milling machine vise. It is not too often that I need this swivel base but recently I did. I had employed the bodge of an...

    Garbage Steel

Hi All, Yes, I know that HR steel will have some residual internal stress but not that of CR steel. And no, the bars were not bent as the photo shown of these bars was after rough milling and then finish grinding both sides of the bars dead flat on a surface grinder. I also had an observation...

    Meehanite Cast Iron Available Locally?

Hi All, Maidstone Model Engineering and College Engineering Supply in the UK carry grade 250 Meehanite cast iron and they both can supply it in small quantities. The minimum size of round solid bar starts at 1" (25 mm and larger) and they can supply many other shapes as well. Grade 250...

    Garbage Steel

Hi All, I can't see how it would be bent as the thickness mike's the same all along the length of each strip and even if I machined out the bend, it wouldn't show as a bell mouth as it does . This is typical internal stress redistribution starting from perhaps a too rapid cooling of the metal...

    Garbage Steel

HI All, This is what we are dealing with these days. There is over 1/4" of warpage at the free ends of these two hot rolled steel strips which are 8" long x 3/16" thick x 1/2" wide nominal. This is after rough and finish machining both sides of the strip (to 5/32" finished thickness). It is...
