Missing wires on a 3hp motor

I p/u a what looks like a new 3hp ph1 230v motor, I went to wire it up to test but it seems P1 is missing. I took the back off to make sure it didn't fall back into the motor, it hadn't, then just kept staring at it until I noticed someone had snipped the lead coming from the thermal breaker...

    Identifying an odd thread.

Wait until you run into British Wittworth, 1/2"-12, I don't even have a 12 tooth on my thread gauge. Could figure it out what it was, manage to sort it out. All I wanted to do was chase some badly mangled threads, you have the choice of an expensive tap that will last 2 life times even though...

    2x72 grinder discussion

Just watched Phil Vandelay's last installment where he constructs dust/spark containment, I think I'll go with something like that. Just a note for anyone thinking about building a 2x72, take note of the length of the footprint, Jer's Gen2 has a minimum length of 34", with a catch pan, 38-40"...

    Tool Identifying this dial indicator

Not at all, digital gauges measure with great accuracy but a lot of projects don't require such fine tolerances. I keep the digital calipers for those situations but the vernier and dial calipers are the ones I use the most.

    Something off with Vevor

I have already done that by starting this thread but I don't want to be perceived as making threats against these guys in case it weakens my claim with Visa. As of this morning the offer is $164.00 or a new motor, I'm tempted to jump at it but there's a chance he might just send me a motor that...

SM 10" Utilathe Tailstock Taper Question

#4 and #8 gears are worn out on my SM 10" as well as it also spent its life in the school system. But I love using it, so much more rigid than my old SB 9A.

    Something off with Vevor

You know, I don't think I would accept a new motor now, he's lost me as a customer. If I treated my clients like that I sure wouldn't be in business anymore. Thanks for the advice guys.

    Something off with Vevor

Me too, everything I have purchased from them has arrived fast and undamaged, very pleased with their service and I told them so. I talked to Visa this morning, gave them all of the details, they said they can't intervene until Feb.13th when they will give me a full refund, but on Feb. 12th I...
