    Need opinions on new lathe

I have contacted Dal at Modern, he says he will check with the factory and contact me in a day or two.

    Need opinions on new lathe

Thanks Tom. At this point, I don't think buying the 14x40 manual/cnc lathe from cncmasters over across the border is realistic for me. I've added all the costs so far (base price, crating, freight from CA to BC, exchange rate) and I have not factored in brokerage fees and tax yet, is about...

    Hi From Vancouver BC

Is that $500 for all mini lathe? I have only been able to find kits for medium sized lathes 14x40 and up for around $4000 range. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

    Hi From Vancouver BC

Would you think it would be better if I tried to do my own lathe conversion. On second thought, it might just be better to buy one already assembled.

    Hi From Vancouver BC

I've sent them an email inquiring about shipping brokerage, duty/tax and any other fees. I've noticed that too, the base lathe is pretty much the same as many other brands. It's just the option to operate both manual and CNC is what I am after. I'm hoping to see if I can find another similar...

I did not know that. I will look into Modern right now. If I can get a comparable machine on this side of the border I would. Dabbler, could you send me a link or post a link as to the 14x40 cnc lathe from Modern?

    Hi From Vancouver BC

Thanks YYCHobbyMachinist. I'm looking to buy my first lathe and have my eye on a 14x40 lathe that can do both manual/cnc from cncmasters.com. They are from across the border so before ordering from them, I'd like to see if other members here have any input on that particular machine, if it's...

    Need opinions on new lathe

I am looking to buy my first lathe and I have done some research already and would like to get the biggest one that I can afford and will fit in my garage. I'm hoping that with this purchase, I would not have to upgrade for at least a few years and have to deal with the hassle of finding a buyer...

    Hi From Vancouver BC

Hi Everyone, New member here from Vancouver BC. New-ish to machining. I have seen first hand the machinist working on the metal lathes and mills at my school's machine shop but never got to operate one myself. I would like to purchase my first metal lathe soon and start learning how to machine...
