Controlling the mice population in our backyard

I don't know what that picture of a lap warmer has to do with this.:) I live in the city. Free roaming cats eventually fill potholes or worse. If I was out in the country I wouldn't even need to ask about bait. But either the mice go or my wife...hmmm :D

Controlling the mice population in our backyard

Couple of winters ago we had what appeared to be a vole issue in the backyard. Wrecked havoc on the lawn. I am not overly concerned about a pristine lawn but it was bad. Made a "feed station" using 2" PVC schedule 40 and 1/8" threaded rod with a couple nuts at one end acting as a stop...

End of our backyard chicken experiment.

My in-laws used to have what they referred to as Bantam chickens. I was told that they were not for eating but pets who "cleaned up table scraps". Skunks and foxes were the local troublemakers.

Aluminum wire going to make a comeback?

Aluminum wire going to make a comeback?

Hasn't been used in residential since after the mid 70's but still used for HV service conductors. Probably "click bait" article but this was on the cover of a recent edition of Electrical Business Magazine: "Copper cannot keep up with electrification It's time to revisit our conductor...

Will notches in a tapered seating surface affect performance too much

I was thinking of something like this chuck spur in a chuck with a dead center in the tail stock: South Bend made a spur center for wood turning on a metal lathe and I've seen faceplates where a spur center can be mounted but I have neither of those options.
